Okay, I've been sitting on this for a minute and I can finally share it publicly
I'm hosting the 2026 Black Travel Summit in Milwaukee, WI this October.
That’s the ultimate gathering of Black travelers, creators, and industry folks linking up in real life to network, talk about the future of the industry, and discuss why it’s so important that we tell our stories.
It’s always where I became an award-winning content creator and ugly cried on a stage in Brazil in 2025.
It’s huge! You’ll see so many of your Black travel creator faves and even a celebrity or two (Malik Yoba came through last year). The summit also starts with city tours and FAM trips and includes a “speed dating” networking session with tourism organizations, great ways to get some motion in your creator journey. If you’re a seasoned creator or filmmaker, there’s also the Black Travel Film Festival (still accepting submissions for the next week)! That’s the award I won last year that had me ugly crying.
Now, why Milwaukee? Because it’s Black af. One of the Blackest cities in the country, actually. And its rich Black history and current Black renaissance make it the perfect host for this year’s theme: Rebirth. Renew. Reclaim.
For 13 years, I’ve dedicated my career to telling Black stories and amplifying our voices from BET to the New York Times and now independently, where I use travel as my vehicle to continue sharing the history, context and triumphs of the global Black diaspora.
Now, my next move takes me to the BTS stage as your thoughtfully unserious host.

While Cali has received media attention, Chocó, a very Black, very isolated region, and the epicenter of the earthquake, has gotten far less coverage.
